This is a Florida Lobster measuring device. According to the Law (FWC, Florida Wildlife Commision): possession and use of a measuring device is required at all times when catching spiny lobster. The Carapace (head of the lobster) must be larger than 3", and measured in the water. This device is made of aluminum and is laser cut, so it has an ultra precise measurement!

This gauge is very precise! I threw out all our plastic gauges after realizing they all were slightly different and we had been releasing legal lobsters! Not anymore with these gauges!
